Another fish picture...

Here is one of the many fish we caught!!

And one of Kelly and Indy getting ready for bed!

Weekend Getaway

We headed up North this past weekend and enjoyed a nice time camping and my parents. We were able to watch my niece Madelyn sell her pig at the 4H youth show on Thursday night (my camera was dead, so no pictures) and then on Friday night we had cake and ice cream for Kelly's 8th birthday and my nephew Adam's 11th birthday. We had our very own fire-breathing dragon cake.
On Sunday, a bunch of us went out fishing. The best catch of the day was when my brother Dave caught a sea-gull!!! Kendra was eating her lunch when a bunch of seagulls decided to swarm. One grabbed a hold of Dave's line and got hooked. Dave had to reel it in and then my brother Mike had to un-hook the gull - he was fine and flew away!!! It is hard to see in the pictures but if you look close you can see Dave reeling in the bird!!! We had a blast!!

It's been a while....

Wow, time sure does fly. I can't believe that it has been almost 6 weeks since we updated our blog. Here are a few pictures from an evening a couple of weeks ago when we went for ice cream and down to walk on the pier.

Big Boat

Sunday evening Rob and I thought we would go to Captain Sundae's and get a Tommy Turtle and head to the channel to watch the boats coming in. We had perfect timing...we got to watch the Wilfred Sykes head out into Lake Michigan.

Here is a little info - for those who care - Like Rob:)

Built by American Shipbuilding Co., Lorain, OH in 1949 for Inland Steel Co., the streamlined bulk freighter Wilfred Sykes was the first new American-built Great Lakes vessel constructed after World War II. At the time of her launch, she was the largest vessel on the Great Lakes. The Sykes is powered by 2 steam turbine engines producing a combined 7,000 horsepower driving an 18 1/2 foot diameter four-blade propeller giving her a speed of up to 16 mph. Being the first steamship built to burn "bunker C" heavy oil for fuel instead of coal, her fuel tanks can hold 165,000 gallons giving her a cruising range of 4,500 miles. She is also equipped with a bow thruster.

Her 18 hatches feed into 6 compartments where she can carry 20150 tons at maximum Seaway draft of 26 feet and is capable of carrying 21500 tons at her maximum mid-summer draft of 27 feet 7 1/2 inches. The Sykes was the first Great Lakes vessel built with a 70-foot beam and was also the first laker built capable of carrying in excess of 20,000 tons.

Waterfront Property

We always wanted to live on the lake but this isn't what we had in mind....

Rob and Abbie got the Kayaks out!

Go Abbie Go --I really don't think you need your life jacket on the slide, but maybe!

We are getting more rain today but the creek seems to have shifted some and is no longer coming up higher into our yard.

New Tramp!!

Last weekend we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and put up our new trampoline - thanks to Grandma & Grandpa Osborn!! The kids (and Rob) and an great time!!

Saying goodbye to the wagon....

Well, Abbie's car finally died. In honor of the 179,000 miles the old wagon gave to this world she held a farewell party.

Lucky Abbie - she nows is the proud driver of the mini van (with 150,000 miles!!)

Prom

Well, once again, it looks like it has been over a month since I last posted. As I promised (a month ago) here are some of Abbie's prom pictures! I can't believe she will be a senior next year! Where does the time go....

Fun in the water

What a beautiful weekend it was! The girls took advantage of the warm weather to do a little exploring in the creek. Rob and I started to do some yard work - that has been interesting. Coming from a condo we don't have many yard tools - but Rob is loving all the trips to Home Depot!!

I couldn't pass up this picture of Chelsea and Indie. He crawled right in bed with her and fell asleep. She loved it!!

I have final exams this week, so I spent Saturday finishing a paper and reviewing for exams. I can't wait until this week is over!! I then will take the summer off from classes and start again in the fall - for my final semester!! YEAH! I will graduate on Dec. 6 - Yes, I am already counting down the days!

Abbie has prom this Friday (also her birthday) and she is really excited. I will take a bunch of pictures and post them!

Taylor purchased an air-soft gun this weekend and has had a great time finding things in the back yard to shoot at. (After we had the talk that the only living things he was allowed to shoot were the squirrels in the bird feeder and crows - not that the air-soft gun will kill any of them - it is just the principle :)

Walleye Fishing

The time has come Matt, Mike, Dave and Dad. Are we fishing? Where are we fishing? Tawas or Little Bay? Word on the street is that the fish are gonna be big. And remembering all the almost big enough ones we caught last year and marked on the fishfinder this might be a good year if they've grown up.

UPDATE: Check out Matt's Blog to see where we went and how we did at http://mattyount.blogspot.com/

Friends in the woods...

Yesterday afternoon we had some company in the back yard. They are a little hard to see in the picture but if you look close you can see four or five deer laying down taking an afternoon nap. Rob is loving his new house!!

We're Back....

After a long break, we are back! With threats of being cut off from the cyber world of blogging I decided that we must get back with the program. Much has happened since, what.... Dec. 07 - WOW, we are really bad. Anyway, over the last few months we have sold our house and moved! If that wasn't enough... I have been taking a full load of classes at GVSU, doing an internship at a really cool place in Grand Rapids, working two days a week at Neighbors Plus and trying to spend time with the family! Oh, and how could I forget... Abbie has a new puppy... INDIE - who is full of TROUBLE!

No promises, but I will try to keep a better handle on updating our blog. Maybe before the day is done I will post some pictures of the new house!

Happy Easter!!
